Reem Acra Resort: Color Full

Reem Acra showed a typically luxurious Resort 2011 collection on Wednesday, June 9, in her New York showroom, filled with colorful separates, intricately beaded gowns and cocktail dresses, custom-made prints and exclusive-to-Reem Acra colors.

"It's luxury in a different dimension," said Acra.

Acra, whose business is largely concentrated on the international markets of the Middle East and Asia, will open new stores next year. Thus, the collection reflected the aesthetic of a well-traveled global woman, with sleek satin trousers, richly draped pullovers embroidered with metallic thread and show-stopping dresses embellished with chains, beads and embroidery that create its own musical score as you walk.

And befitting of a designer who specializes in couture evening and bridal gowns, all of the materials used in the collection, Acra explained, are exclusive to her, from the floral and jewel prints, which were composed from photographs of Acra's own line of jewelry, to the sumptuous rainbow palette of colors.

Jewels - whether exotic polished minerals, gold-leaf covered stones or an elaborately beaded breastplate - were a focal point as well, whether worn as an accent, in a belt, or as a detachable decorative trim on a bustier.

One would not expect anything less than luxe from Acra, and she delivered once more.
